These Are The Good Times So Enjoy Them

Well, it's not a song but a blog post should do :)

I recently finished rewatching ‘The Office’ and Ed Helms character, Andy Bernard, has a great quote in the last episode that I think sums up how most people feel about great moments in their life, “I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them”. What a great quote, but this got me thinking. You should be able to know you are in the “good old days”. Sometimes when the past gets brought up and it seems as though people have a sadness of days gone by, or regret of not enjoying the moment more, I think it comes down to truly being in the moment or just realizing how great each moment is.

Yes, of course you are going to be sad when great times come to an end but don’t let it turn into wishing you had done more. Take the opportunity to be more in the moment now. I think we are all constantly looking for what's next instead of realizing where we are now. Yes, you should always look to the future and constantly strive to be better and progress in life. I’m not talking about that stand point, I’m strictly talking about that, “good old day” memory type feeling. Enjoy what you’re doing. Enjoy everything that you have. Enjoy everything you can do. And most importantly enjoy who you are with.

If you’re with your spouse having a spontaneous date night, those are the “good old days”.

If you’re with your best friend goofing around, those are the “good old days”.

If you’re having a games night with some friends, those are the “good old days”.

If you’re at a family holiday dinner, those are the “good old days”.

If you're playing peek-a-boo with your kid, those are the "good old days".

It doesn’t matter what you’re doing or how insignificant you may think that moment might be, just enjoy what is going on right in front of you. You never know when something can come to an end.  Really try and have as much fun as you can. The next time you’re with a loved one, really appreciate that time because that’s the quality moment that could turn into the “good old days” and if you’re not careful you can miss out.

Simply enjoy every moment you have. Life is great! Live it that way!
