In A World Full of Chaos, Looking For The Constants
Life can get chaotic. I know, duh! right. But during those chaotic times, finding your constant is what’s going to get you through it. If you’re on a boat, and life is the sea, your constant is your life raft. It’s the person who you cling to when the storm gets too crazy. When the waves are crashing down on you, there should be no worries because your constant is there to save you when you’re on the verge of drowning. Your constant knows what to do or what to say to comfort you, and above all, just love you.
There is no easy way to navigate this world we live in. It takes a lot of hard work, patience, understanding, love, self awareness, and a thousand other traits and qualities. But even if you master the essence of these traits and qualities, you’re still not invincible to the major downs. Because let’s face it, it can’t always be just ups. So when those lows hit and usually they hit hard, look for your constants. Go to them for advice, for wisdom and understanding, for love, for support, or just for companionship.
For me I have a Quadfecta of constants that always make things better: My wife, my daughter, my dogs, and my homies. Whatever is going on in my life, going to one person/dog in my Quadfecta for love, support, or fun helps ease whatever stress is going on in life. It just melts away. Now looking at my list, 2 of my constants (my daughter and my dogs) can’t understand the intricacies of what I have going on in my life, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t get support from them. When I get to hold Baby Bird and just be in the moment with how amazing she is, it’s fantastic. She has a way of freezing time and eliminated external stress. A way of simplifying life if you will. When I can spend time with the dogs and see the unconditional love they have for me, it’s also amazing. They have a way of eliminating all judgement and love no matter what. Then when I do need the understanding, the life advice, the support through words, I have that in spades with my wife (who I am so unbelievably lucky to be married too) and my homies.
Who are your constants? When you actually sit down and analyze who would be in your quadfecta, trifecta, or duo of constants, who do you gravitate towards to ease the tension from the weight of life. It might be different from what you would expect, you never know. But regardless find them and let them know how much you love them and how much they mean to you, and then be there for them as much as you can. I hope you have a great day.
