Halloween Pretzels

Every Halloween I make these chocolate covered pretzels because they are SO easy, look super cute and are the perfect combo of salty and sweet.  I particularly enjoy making these little goodies because I can make them a week ahead of time and know they will not go stale (this is HUGE when trying to correlate baking various things on various days leading up to your big event). They also make great leftover snacks that are perfect to throw in your lunch or bring into the office.  And if you aren’t baking savvy, this recipe will be perfect for you!  Definitely an ideal must have!

What you need:

  • Twist Pretzels (Can use Glutino Gluten Free Pretzels should you want to make them GF)
  • Orange Melting Chocolate
  • Chocolate Chips
  • White Melting Chocolate
  • Candy Googly Eyes
  • Waxed paper

You can buy everything at Bulk Barn - which is handy should you only want to make a few or make a whole bunch)

Directions:

  1. For the Pumpkin pretzels, start by melting the orange chocolate in the microwave.  Put it in for 30sec, check and stir it…if it’s not quite melted throw it in for another 20-30sec.  You can burn this chocolate if you put it in too long (I’ve done it) so just go little by little.
  2. Using a fork, dunk the pretzel into the chocolate until covered.  Lift it up, let it drip for a sec and place on waxed paper.  Add a chocolate chip as a stem and leave to cool
  3. For the Ghost Pretzels, melt the white chocolate (again 30sec, check and stir, and then back in for 20-30sec).  Again using a fork, dunk your pretzel until covered, let it drip for a sec, then place on waxed paper.  Add your two googly eyes.  Let cool.

Note: It does take a good few hours to cool, so I leave mine overnight just to be sure.
